HARMONY IN THE HIGHLANDS: EXPLORING THE RICH TRADITIONS OF SCOTTISH MUSIC

This course is delivered over four sessions, over two dates

2 DAY COURSE: Sat / Sun /  1pm-2.30pm & 4.30pm-6pm, each day
TUTOR: Heather Downie
LEVEL: Intermediate/Advanced (see brochure p23 for explanation)
TEACHING METHOD E+M: Teaching will be initially by ear with written music

Explore the depths of Scotland's musical heritage by delving into its intricate melodies, ancient tales, and rhythmic dances. Heather will guide you through technical exercises designed to hone your Scottish musical skills,

followed by an exploration of some of her favourite Scottish pieces, delving into their history and context to deepen your understanding of the music. We will also explore and discuss arrangement choices, encouraging you to consider your own personal approach to arranging and your musical identity.
