RED RORY MCGLIP AND THE FAIRY HARP (YOUNG PERFORMERS' CONCERT)
The EIHF junior ensemble, consisting of young harpers from around the country, will perform a magical suite of newly created music based upon the tale of The Adventures of Red Rory McGlip and the Fairy Harp. The story will be told alongside the music by storyteller Heather Yule and the concert will feature a performance from Royal National Mòd prizewinner, Isla Ovenstone. Join us for this enchanting performance.

    C04 - Catrin Finch & Aoife Ni Bhriain / Juanjo Corbalan Quartet

    ASSEMBLY HALL CATRIN FINCH & AOIFE NÍ BHRIAINOne of the world’s greatest harp players, Welsh harpist Catrin Finch has built an impressive classical career and ventured into unchartered musical territory, most notably through her award-winning collaborations with Seckou Keita and Cimarron. From across the Irish Sea, Dublin native Aoife Ní Bhriain is one of her generation’s most versatile and gifted violinists, a dazzling musician who commands both the classical world and her Irish traditional heritage. Together, Aoife and Catrin form a formidable virtuoso duo, eager to explore a musical world of creative possibility, challenge and discovery. JUANJO CORBALÁNJuanjo Corbalán is one of Paraguay’s leading harpists, known for bringing the traditional Paraguayan harp into contemporary dialogue with jazz and Latin American music. His quartet features Lara Barreto on alto and soprano saxophone, Víctor Álvarez on piano, and Seba Ramírez on drums and percussion, creating a distinctive sound that blends roots and innovation, tradition and improvisation. With tours across Europe and Latin America, and winner of the Dutch Harp Festival 2022, the group presents a repertoire of original compositions alongside new creations.     C03 - Wendy Stewart and the Galloway Agreement

    MUSIC SCHOOL The Galloway Agreement are an alternative string quintet based in South West Scotland, featuring Wendy Stewart (harp), Ruth Morris (nyckelharpa), Beth Porter (cello), Gavin Marwick (fiddle) and Stuart Macpherson (double bass). This combination produces a unique sound which the group love to explore through their own compositions, influenced by their varied musical backgrounds in folk, classical and jazz. Their concert will also feature music written for a theatre project with writer Tom Pow and Bird Theatre, Japan, which explores questions of rural depopulation through story, song and memory.     C08 - Hands in Harmony

    ASSEMBLY HALL Hands in Harmony: Moods and Memories Students attending the Festival join with ensembles from several Branches of The Clarsach Society to form our Festival Orchestra. Together they will perform music specially arranged and directed by Isobel Mieras, Rosemary McKerchar and Wendy Stewart, interspersed with performances from each Branch ensemble. Many harps and hands will sing together to weave a colourful and varied tapestry of music, celebrating the skills, friendship, joy, and generosity of making music together.     ASSEMBLY HALL PARK STICKNEY Park, who splits his time between New York and Switzerland, has been a regular at the EIHF since the early years. His unique brand of inspiring ideas and humour appeals to all. In his own words…Really, a lot of harp-playing. Maybe too much. Probably (certainly) also some pithy anecdotes. Again, perhaps too many.     C05 - Karen Marshalsay / Laura Penman

    MUSIC SCHOOL KAREN MARSHALSAYKaren will present the Three Scottish Harps: the warm-sounding lever harp, the resonant wire-strung clarsach of the Gaels and the baroque era bray harp with its distinctive sitar-like buzz give the harp huge significance in the Scottish tradition. Karen Marshalsay is one of only a handful of harpers who specialises on all three instruments. With a playing style that is deeply connected to the piping tradition, she has won praise for both the purity of her phrasing and her ability to add character to a melody with decoration. Tunes and the stories behind them make Karen’s Three Scottish Harps an entertaining, informative experience. LAURA PENMANLaura Penman is a clarsach player, pianist and composer. She studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and graduated with a BMus Traditional Music in 2024. She was a finalist in the Young Traditional Musician of the Year Award 2025. She has been immersed in tradition and has explored other genres, and enjoys both accompanying other instrumentalists and performing as a soloist. Laura will showcase both her arrangements of traditional music and her own compositions. Supported by The United Kingdom Harp Association

    C06 - Amy Turk / Eleanor Dunsdon, Wan Xing & Gregor Black

    ASSEMBLY HALL AMY TURKAmy Turk is a multi-genre harpist, composer, arranger and session artist from Manchester. She is well known from her YouTube videos, where she has covered classical, pop, rock, film and video game music. In concert, Amy will present her story as a percussive harpist, emulating acoustic guitarists through her arrangements of pop and rock songs and her own compositions using percussion and extended effects. ELEANOR DUNSDON, WAN XING & GREGOR BLACKA journey of cross-cultural improvisation, Hong Kong-based Guzheng player, Wan Xing, teams up with harpist, Eleanor Dunsdon, and percussionist/bodhrán player, Gregor Black, combining their distinct musical backgrounds to create a unique new sound. The trio met in Boston, Massachusetts, in 2023, during the Silkroad Ensemble's Global Musician Workshop. They performed at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2025, premiering their debut album, ‘Waves of Tradition’. Exploring the trio’s Chinese-Scottish crossover, their programme highlights the relationships between these instruments and cultures, as well as featuring the premiere of a new commission for the trio by internationally acclaimed harpist and composer, Maeve Gilchrist.     C07 - Marianne Gubri / Anna McLuckie

    MUSIC SCHOOL MARIANNE GUBRI Marianne Gubri, settled in Italy since 2002 and originally from Brittany, takes the audience on an immersive journey through the harmony of the cosmos. Blending ancient scales, celestial imagery, and ethereal soundscapes, her performance intertwines harp and subtle electronic layers to evoke the Music of the Spheres — the timeless vibration linking stars, nature, and the human soul. A meditative and inspiring concert where art, science, and spirituality resonate in perfect harmony. ANNA MCLUCKIE Anna is a Scottish singer, songwriter and clarsach player. Raised on classical and traditional music at the City of Edinburgh Music School, she studied Popular Music at The Royal Northern College of Music. Musically she sits in a world of contemporary folklore, her songs layered with interweaving harmonies, story-led lyricism and free-form structures. Many will have first seen Anna on BBC’s The Voice in 2014. Now based in London, she has performed across the globe, and her first full length album The Little Winters is set to be released in April 2026.
